Age Grading & Combined Event Scoring

Age Grading is an adjustment for a performance (time, height or distance) based on age – the older you are, the bigger the adjustment. The adjustment, known as an Age Grade Factor, is multiplied by the performance to get an Age Graded Performance so all times, heights or distances for each event by athletes from 20 to over 100 years old can be compared to each other! The Age Graded Performance is the equivalent to what the athlete would have done when they were in their 20s.

2017-2022 “SHOT PUT” GREAT LOOP Completed ! The LOOP is the Inter-coastal waterway that circumnavigates the Eastern U.S. I’ve earned medals in all 18 state that touch the LOOP: AL, MS, TN, KY, IL, IN, OH, MI, NY, NJ, DE, MD, PA, VA, NC, SC, GA, AND FL. Was even able to medal in Canada at their Masters “Virtual” T&F event during COVID (hired a USATF official to Verify). Added WV for “Everything East of the Mississippi”. Added NM at the National Veterans Games to finish with 20 Medals in 20 States. “I’m not one of the Great Shot Putters (14-16m), not even one of the Best Shot Putters (12-14m), just one of the “Better” Shot Putters (10+ - 11m), better-enough to medal in every state I’ve competed in” Not reliving Glory Days…Making New Ones…but back-in-the-day: NJ Catholic State Shot Put Champion (SJR 57’11”) - 9th Consecutive Shot Put Scholarship Athlete from SJR Shot Put Scholarship to West Virginia University (WVU 55+’) 20yr Chief Intelligence Specialist, U.S. Navy Retired. Senior Collection Officer, Office of Naval Intelligence, Retired. Special Thanks to my Wife Nilla, Master Chief, U.S. Navy Retired. who was my Navigator & Photographer for all these events! Turned 65 and realized that I have thrown the shot put for 20yrs (3-SJR / 2 WVU / 15 Masters) ! Final Four competitions in the 65 Age Group: Gold Medals: Alabama State Senior Games, 2023 Alabama State Games, 2023 USATF South East Region, and 2023 Oktoberfest Elite Athletes.
