Age Grading & Combined Event Scoring

Age Grading is an adjustment for a performance (time, height or distance) based on age – the older you are, the bigger the adjustment. The adjustment, known as an Age Grade Factor, is multiplied by the performance to get an Age Graded Performance so all times, heights or distances for each event by athletes from 20 to over 100 years old can be compared to each other! The Age Graded Performance is the equivalent to what the athlete would have done when they were in their 20s.

He then earned an MBA degree from Rutgers University and a CPA certificate from the state of New York. He spent most of his career as a corporate financial executive and retired as CFO of a division of Diageo, the international drinks company. In 2002, at age 61, Roger began throwing the discus in the Masters division. Highlights include: **USA national record holder, 80-84 group, at 38.42 meters **USA national record holder, 75-79 group, at 43.83 meters **Eleven time USA national champion. **2016 World champion, Perth, Australia. **Five time leader of world age-group annual rankings. **Age-group performance of 86.97% (using 2023 tables) with throw of 38.97 at age 82. In 2014 he began collecting stories from his fellow throwers about their proudest moment as an athlete. These stories, over 100 of them, are posted on his website: www.MastersProudestMoments.com.
