Opportunities to compete are often rare for special masters events. Exceptional, world class events are even rarer. The 42 competitors at the USATF Indoor Masters Heptathlon Championships in Kenosha, WI (results here) this weekend were treated to another fantastic competition. Jeff Watry, 2017 David Pain award recipient, ran an extraordinary meet plus placed 3rd in his age group! Another treat for competitors was having Rob Jerome there to take more of his legendary photos.

Rodney Atherton, M60, scored 5519 to exceed Doug Osland’s US record of 5393 set at this event in 2015. The oldest competitor in the field, Roger Vergin, M80, scored the second highest with 5213 and Michael Janusey, M60, scored the third highest with 5149. Erika Pierce, W45, continued her combined event dominance leading all women with 4394.

Other age group winners were Scott Wisniewski, M35; Mike Kuoppamaki, M40; Lee Faulkner, M45; Dolf Berle, M50; Randy Hansen, M55; Russell Jacquet-Acea, M65; Lawrence Lagesse, M70; Fred Dillemuth, M75; Danelle Readinger, W40; Vicki Fox, W55;

Congratulations to all. Thank you Jeff and your stellar crew of officials and volunteers!!! Look for more on this meet in National Masters News.
