I took up sprinting in my early 20s with a 12.4s 100m debut. I eventually worked my way down to 11.6s but stayed a club-standard sprinter until I became a Master. I finally acheived my lifetime personal best time of 11.43s for 100m in my first World Championship in 2003 at the age of 43. Since then I have been fortunate to be able to lose my speed at a slower rate than most of my rivals.
